ChinaDRM（The China Radio, Film and Television Digital Copyright Management Forum) was established on November 24, 2004.
The ChinaDRM Forum was established with strong support from National Radio and Television Administration(NRTA), jointly by broadcasting, film and television industry, academia, research, and users. Its purpose is to promote the attention of the whole society to digital copyright management(DRM), promote the development of DRM, safeguard the rights of all participants in the digital media content publishing chain, and establish a good environment for content publishing and consumption. The forum focuses on researching and exploring the application needs, solutions, technical standards, development directions, development strategies, and issues closely related to the development of digital media. It pays attention to the latest developments in DRM technology, promotes communication and cooperation among members, and creates conditions for building a favorable environment for the development of digital media copyright management.
ChinaDRM has entered the stage of industrial scale development after long-term development. Its core technical achievements have been officially adopted as the ITU-T J.104x series.
The ChinaDRM ecosystem is becoming increasingly prosperous, with over 100 members, and established a comprehensive system for the industrial development of digital copyright management.
The ChinaDRM system is logically divided into two parts: DRM server and DRM client. The DRM server includes core modules such as content encryption, key management, key gateway, and content authorization; The DRM client is a trusted entity within the device, responsible for enforcing licenses and restrictions related to DRM content. The DRM server uses symmetric encryption algorithm to encrypt digital media content using Content Encryption Key (CEK), and protects the key through hierarchical key encryption method. Finally, it encapsulates the key usage rules into a content authorization license and sends it to the DRM client. The client decrypts and plays the content according to the usage rules. Certificate services provide digital certificates for DRM server modules and DRM clients.
The ChinaDRM system adopts national encryption algorithms, including SM2, SM3, and SM4. The system has been widely used in the radio and television industry and the Internet industry, and has achieved remarkable results.
